PPR Diagnostics Ltd situated in Central London. PPR has expertise in the synthesis of fine chemicals and microbiology and undertakes collaborative development work with other companies. A number of products have been developed in these areas.

Its scientists have pioneered the use of a colorimetric diagnostic kit for the enzyme NAG (N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase) using the MNP-glucosaminide substrate which was developed by the Company.  This enzyme is an early biomarker for Acute Kidney Injury due to nephrotoxic drug, environmental pollutants or renal disease.  A second spectrophotometric NAG reagent kit is designed for when high sensitivity is required e.g. for neonatal investigations.

A novel range of chromogenic substrates developed by the Company have been incorporated in chromogenic media for Candia species, Salmonella, E. coli and Mycoplasma agalactiae and bovis.

The company markets and supplies to Pharmacies and dermatologists a highly purified preparation of Diphencyprone which is used for the treatment of Alopecia, the treatment of recalcitrant warts and certain types of Melanoma.

The company synthesises a wide range of chromogenic substrates (different colours) which are available for the assay of galactosidase, (aryl) esterases, phosphatases, glucosidase and hexosaminidases.  These substrates are suitable for incorporation in diagnostics tests.

The Company is currently developing a rapid Point of care test for urinary tract infection.

The development of novel chromogenic substrates and media attracted two SMART awards.  The Company operates in the International market and has received guidance form the United Kingdom Trade and Investment Organisation (UKTI) via the PASSPORT scheme and Gateway for Growth.

The company was successful in its application for the Trademarks RapichromeTM -Community Trade Mark No 005285333 (2007) and Trademark USA No. 3495042 (2008).  GRAMBACTORTM  - UK and EU Trademark No 012552899 (2014).
